Bringing TROY.NY’s community together in a twenty-first century context are a number of newer gatherings that continue to build lasting bonds between the city’s residents. The growing number of antiques shops in downtown display their wares on the open sidewalks, making the great outdoors into a second living room that draws antique lovers and passersby. And tying it all together are such events as Troy Night Out, when the huge number of downtown arts venues throw a giant group party on the last Friday of every month, and the award-winning Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, which attracts thousands every Saturday of the year with its fresh produce, cheeses, meats, wines, and other producer-only offerings, plus a fabled helping of weekly gossip and merriment and music.
